Growth plays with the multiple meanings of the word, changing depending on context. Growth can mean a progression and expansion, moving forwards and in a personal context moving past the things that held one back. However, with the incursion of fungi onto the bodies, the idea of growth takes on a more sinister connotation of infection, disease and cancer, alien protrusions sprouting from flesh. The mushrooms are at once a positive and powerful force of living nature, bursting through and unfurling upwards, but also an organism that feeds on decay and rot. Beauty lies somewhere between the two.
